Words
Written by Stewart Acuff
Words fail as they do for us
Who struggle to spell out a heart in letters
Of course, words didn’t fail Lincoln at the
Second Inaugural or Gettysburg
Or Churchill as the Nazi bombs fell
Or Solomon in his song of love
Or Chief Joseph “I will fight no more forever”
Or Tom Jefferson “We hold these truths”
But I struggle to find words
I examine my heart
I plumb the depths of my soul
To express all that fills me with love and
Adoration for you, for you all the time
Adoration that just is, not dependent on
Anything. It just is.
