I am so excited that I have two book and poetry readings and signings coming up in Washington, DC and in Silver Spring.
Both venues are iconic places for art and literature and progressive politics.
Please send this out to everyone in the DC area!
On May 2nd at 6:30 pm, I will do the May Day reading and signing at the premier coffee house, bookstore, bar and restaurant in DC called Busboys and Poets. It was named after Langston Hughes one of America’s greatest writers and freedom fighters and I will be reading from the Langston Hughes room. The evening will be sponsored by Teaching for Change and the Institute for Policy studies. This Busboys and Poets is the original one at 2021 14th Street NW Washington, DC.
Please help us get a crowd.
I will read from Playing Bigger Than You: A Life in Organizing and a couple of newly published social justice poems.
Then on May 24th at 6:30 brilliant young poet Ingrid Anders and I are sharing a poetry reading at a wonderful Ethiopian coffee house and art gallery in Silver Spring just off Georgia Ave on Bonifant St. It is called Kefa Cafe and is owned by two wonderful Ethiopian sisters. The magnificent writer George Pelecanos worked on some of his books in here.
My books will be available at both events in case you haven’t gotten around to getting them.
Please plaster this notice on Facebook, email to everyone. Tell ’em all old Acuff tells the truth as he sees it in a way everyone understands.
