The Mississippi: A poem by Stewart Acuff
Written by Stewart Acuff
I sit high on the bluffs of this river I love so much and watch it makes its way South
I love this river, always have
Its slow, majestic, powerful, constant journey South
I feel it pulling me
Down to little town like Malden and Obion where my people and me are from
And cities like Memphis and New Orleans where folks celebrate this river–and life and music and our art and love
I love this Mississippi River in a way I only understand as home
It is so very much older and grander than anything I know
Flow, Mississippi.
Do your work with the majesty no one nor anyone else can do.
