Stewart Acuff: We must all help organize the Democratic base this fall
This blog is cross-posted at The Daily Kos
All the political prognosticators agree. There are strong Obama states, strong Romney states, states that lean one way or the other, and there are a few wide open states. Those open states include at least Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Prognosticators also agree that this election will be decided by three factors: the independent vote, turnout, and the economy.
Since you are reading this, there is a very good chance you realize how dangerous electing Romney would be to our future, our faltering democracy, and our nation.
As progressives I think we all have two very serious roles to play in the decision the American people make this fall. We all need to see ourselves as President Obama surrogates, reminding both independents and the base of all the things President Obama has achieved in spite of Republican intransigence. Secondly, we must all help organize the Democratic base. We must win the turnout factor.
