Stately Elegant Egret
Written by Stewart Acuff
The tall, stately elegant egret
Complained with caws as the dogs
Violated his perch at the edge of the low tide marsh
Noses to the ground wanting warm blooded critters to chase
They ignored the always elegant egret
He just took up a higher perch
He must’ve fed on small fish as the tide went out.
The dogs happily went about their sniffing search in the high sawgrass
This rich marsh feeds so many.
