Watchin’ a Tennessee band record at Sun,
That’s Sun Studio in Memphis where a
Boy named Elvis laid some shit down to stun
The whole world and boys like Jerry Lee and
Others with Elvis made music that none
Had ever heard. This band I just saw was
Playin’ pure Tennessee music, a little roll,
A little country, and a lotta rock and soul.
Best music ever made was made in Memphis
At Sun and a place called Stax, this
Place where they made soul, Memphis soul
Raw and funky out of church and off the street
All of it rocked your soul and moved your feet.
