Protecting Our Kids

I am proud that I was raised in the rural American South of the blood of Scots-Irish, African-Americans, Chickasaws and Cherokee people. I am proud that my grandfather left me his shotgun when I was six and that I was competent with guns and bringing home squirrels, rabbits, doves, ducks, and coons for supper. But there is no room in our society now for weapons designed for war and not for supper. I don’t know about you, but I am as Soren Kierkegaard said, “sickened unto death,” by the slaughter of our precious babies. My son is 13 and my daughter is 11 and were they to be killed by a madman with an assault rifle with a high capacity magazine, I don’t think I could stand it.If any more kids are killed because the NRA and the politicians they own won’t do what all of us know we need to do, their hands will drip with the blood of innocent children.

Nobody wants to ban guns or take away guns. We just don’t want our children killed by war machines.

These are all our kids. And they need all of us to protect them.

Don’t tell me I don’t understand. I do. Don’t tell me I don’t honor a lifestyle. I do.

Please call your Members of Congress and tell them to protect our kids from war machines. Dial 202-224-3121.
