Daybreak on this island

Before even the birds are up

Silent

Waking, waiting, watching

What will this new day bring?

It will bring struggle we know

It can’t be avoided

Could this day bring tranquility of spirit?

The inner joy that can come from

Knowing the struggle is where I’m led.
