Compassion in this Season

Whatever happened to compassion?
Not just love for your family
Or affection for your friends
But compassion for all, love for creation?
All creation. All that God put here
To live together supposedly in harmony?
‘Tis the season as they say
Now it’s the Holidays, time for cheer
But cheer ain’t enough now, not emotion
The emotion that wells up inside you
But the decision, the conscious decision
To love folks that might not be lovely,
The decision to treat all God’s children
With compassion and love and justice.
