Christmastime at the Beach
Written by Stewart Acuff
Gray, green waves rolling steadily into
The sandy beach punctuated with rocks
The sun and clouds play a child’s games
Of peek-a-boo and hide-n-seek
While the wind cold and steady makes
The fire a natural blessing of warmth, light.
Its Christmastime in Monterey and
Everywhere. Somehow the heart is lighter.
Children and loved ones become central
Again just as they should be every season
And every day. We rediscover love in
The deepest places of our hearts and souls
How could we not?
We celebrate the birth of Jesus, the holy
Carpenter from Nazareth and Hanukkah just
As He did. We celebrate Kwanzaa and the
Building of True Community acknowledging
The Winter Solstice, the beauty of the earth
And the peace she holds through all her
Seasons. And love is raised up.

That is a beautiful poem. It’s everything said that holidays should have us become. More humane to each other, grander in our appreciation.
