“Nothing is more harmful to workers than when plutocrats and their legislative marionettes are feeling their oats and turning greed into law,” so says Gordon Lafer in an important report he did for the Economic Policy Institute.
Lafer again, “The state-by-state pattern of public employment cuts, pension rollbacks, and union busting makes little sense from an economic standpoint. But it becomes much more intelligible when understood as a political phenomenon.”
We have been discussing both the role of plutocrats taking power in America and destroying democracy, and the role of ALEC in designing and pushing state legislation while doing the bidding of America’s most fantastically wealthy plutocrats.
“[T]he most striking feature of the pattern of state legislation—relating not just to union rights but also to a wide range of labor and employment standards, as will be outlined in greater detail later in this paper—is the extent to which similar legislation has been introduced, in largely cookie-cutter fashion, in multiple legislatures across the country,” writes Lafer.
The EPI report concludes that relying on an electoral strategy is not enough by itself, that there must be people in the street raising hell, making clear their righteous anger.
The plutocrats, America’s most fabulously wealthy have put together a helluva team. The plutocrats provide the money and marching orders. ALEC creates the cookie cutter state legislation, and the bogus tea baggers provide the front for ALEC and their puppet masters.
A conspiracy? I’d say so. Worth a RICO investigation? Definitely! Please call your Senators and Representative at 202-224-3121. Please tell them that ALEC is violating their nonprofit tax status in state after state and deserves a RICO investigation.
Thanks to Gordon Lafer and the Economic Policy Institute for the documentation we can use to take action against the American Legislative Exchange Council, puppet of America’s plutocrats.
